United Arab Emirates (UAE) becomes the first Gulf Arab country to reach a deal on normalising relations with Israel, the action described by President of Asian Federation of Muslim Youth (AFMY), Dr Abdul Muntaqim Abu Bakar as a “great betrayal to all Muslims”.

“The action by UAE which becomes the first Arab country in 26 years to recognize full ties with Israel is a great betrayal and should be condemned by all Muslims. The existence of Israel itself is illegal, established through annexation of Palestinian’s land. Until this day, Palestinian’s lands are seized for construction of illegal Israeli settlements”.
“This newly declared relationship is an act of deception, in which they want to be seen as a friendly country with the entire Muslim World. But in reality, they have repeatedly betrayed Palestine and its people,” Dr Muntaqim said.
The declaration for normalization of the full relationship was announced in a joint statement by United States, the State of Israel, and the United Arab Emirates issued on 13th August 2020, thus making UAE as the third Arab country after Egypt and Jordan to have full diplomatic ties with Israel.

Chairman of Islamic Party of Malaysia’s International Bureau, YB Ustaz Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi said in a statement, “It is very questionable for UAE, led by an Islamic leader and as a country with Muslims majority, to willingly shaking hands with the leaders of the Israeli and Zionist, and by leaving behind the Palestinians, who have long been oppressed and denied their rights”
Meanwhile, Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem said, “This agreement does absolutely not serve the Palestinian cause, it rather serves the Zionist narrative. This agreement encourages the occupation [by Israel] to continue its denial of the rights of our Palestinian people, and even to continue its crimes against our people,”

“What is required is to support the legitimate struggle of our people against the occupation and not to establish agreements with this occupier, and any annexation we will face by a Palestinian confrontation that is supported by the Arabs and internationally, and not by signing normalisation agreements with them [Israel].”
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani decried the deal as ‘a huge mistake’. He said, “The Emirate rulers think that if they approach America and the Zionist regime, their security will improve and their economy will grow,” Rouhani said. “But this is totally wrong.”
While Turkey is considering suspending diplomatic ties with the United Arab Emirates and withdrawing its ambassador after agreement between the Gulf state and Israel to normalise ties was revealed, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.

“I told him [the foreign minister] we may also take a step in the direction of suspending diplomatic ties with the Abu Dhabi leadership or pulling back our ambassador.”
